Yvette C. Thompson, A.P. – Acupuncture Physician – Licensed Massage Therapist – Certified AMMA Therapist

Yvette started her career in Natural Medicine in 1992 at the New Center for Wholistic Health Care and Research in Syosset, NY.  There she trained  and was certified in  an ancient art of oriental healing called AMMA therapy – a form of acupressure that focuses on the balance and movement  of life energy within the body.  At the New Center for Wholistic Health Care and Research she was introduced to and aligned with the principles of Wholistic Health:

A human being is a living energy system, rather than an arrangement of parts.  Any disturbance in body, mind or spirit reflect a disturbance in the whole system.

Real health involves the whole person.  Mind and body are integrated and inseparable.

Wholistic health treats the “whole” person – not just symptoms and disease.

Real health is not just the absence of disease – but a positive state of being.

Real health is achieved with treatment of causes rather than symptoms – using natural and prevent approaches to health.

In Wholism, all approaches to health care are valued and integrated.  Wherever possible, natural, low risk methods which mobilize the individual’s healing resources take precedence over drugs, surgery and other hazardous therapies. Wholistic health recognizes the power of the body to heal the mind – as well as the power of the mind to heal the body. Each person has a responsibility for his/her own health and must be an active participant in his/her own healing.

In 1996 fascinated  with and  having experienced  the benefits  of Oriental Medicine, she traveled to Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, a world renowned school of  natural medicine, to further her studies in acupuncture, herbology , Tai Chi and Qi Gong.  She graduated from Bastyr University in 2000, having attained a Masters  of Science Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and  has been practicing acupuncture in WA  since 2000.  She moved to Florida to be closer to family last year and is licensed as an Acupuncture Physician  and continues to practice acupuncture and oriental medicine to restore, promote and maintain optimum health.
